Excoriation 1334:
Anguish
Info: excoriation1334@hotmail.com
This song was written after a very painful breakup
which resulted in a nervous breakdown and utter insanity. For several
months after my girlfriend left me I was a complete shut in, leaving
my apartment only for cigarettes. In this time I didn't talk to
anyone and "remodelled my apartment". I ripped out the
carpet and linoleum and painted everything red and black. After
talking to Nicolas I decided to turn my fears, insanity, confusion,
etc into music. Anguish is the closest word to describe the combination
of feelings in which I was going through. Therefore "Anguish"
became the title. Excoriation 1334 became the project name. "Excoriation"
means to remove or tear off the flesh, 1334 is the year the plague
broke out. This song was completed written after four days with
no food or sleep.
It was recorded by Matt Jordan for Overload Recordings in one take.
No editing, no programmed beats, nothing! Every beat is hit on my
sampler live with my right hand while I played guitar with my left
hand. I refused to change anything including parts that are slightly
off because it is pure the way that it came out of me and it would
be a crime to change the way my heart felt at the time of the recording.
I thank Nicolas and Maja for cheering me up some and giving me friendhship
beyond comparison. I also thank Simone, Melissa, Danny, and last
but not least Amanda for inspiration, hope and friendship. Also
all of my friends. You know who you are (Irene, Melanie, Mike, Christina,
Chris, Eric, Dr. Fred Lieberman, etc.). Feel this track, don't just
listen to it! The beauty in pain and sorrow broken by insanity then
blending to form an indescribable feeling that makes sense. Most
of all I thank my cat Sebastian for his undying unconditionned love
and understanding. Ellis Dee helped me make sense out of my feelings.
For those of you who care how I felt and read this, thank you. You
have my respect.
