Cakebuilder's soundtrack to the ritualistic movie "The Magus"
Wednesday, 26 January 2011 13:45

Another meeting of Ad Noiseam-related music and images: Jeremy Pillipow, known around here as Cakebuilder, has recently written the soundtrack to "The Magus", a film described by Jaimz Asmundson (its director) as "multi-format, process-based experimental film that explores the root of artistic creation.".

This short movie, which follows the ritualistic creative process of the Winnipeg-based painter C. Graham Asmundson, is now being screened at various festivals. Jeremy Pillipow / Cakebuilder's tribal sounding score is a perfect match for this films rapid fire editing and dark psychedelic topic (think of Kenneth Anger, for example).

The trailer for "The Magus" can be seen below, and you can read more information about it here. While it be put online one day, don't pass on a screening if this comes to be shown around you (you can check screening dates here).

Hecq & Matta: heavy beats for fast cars.
Friday, 21 January 2011 18:23

And another video using a track from Hecq and Matta. While the original version of "Sura" (from the record of the same name, adn128) already appears on two showreels (one, two) and Matta's "Suicide Stutter" in yet another one, it's this time the remix of Hecq's tune by Matta which got picked up to be featured in an advertisment for no less than Audi (yes, the fancy cars).

This trailer for Audi's E-tron is to be seen below. It was produced by Tisch13 (agency) for Living Room Pictures (production), and, again, is synced to Matta's remix of Hecq's "Sura", which appears on both Hecq's "Sura" 12" and Matta's "Prototype" CD.

Matta in another video showreel
Saturday, 15 January 2011 19:38

It seems like heavy bass, Ad Noiseam-style is becoming a favorite soundtrack to video artists preparing their showreels. A few days after Hecq's "Sura" was used for his video portfolo by Peiter Hergert, it's the turn of Matta's "Suicide Stutter" (taken from the "Lost" 12" and the "Prototype" CD) to be used by the Barcelona-based artist ID:Mora for an example of his VJ skills.
The video is after the break. Remember, it's not a work to be seen as it is, but a demonstration of what this guy can do in a live environment. And since we like ID:Mora a lot over here (after all, he's already provided videos to Bong-Ra's "Jo Bench", Chevron "Renegade Cherryade" and Matta's "Mass", all Ad Noiseam tracks), we strongly advise anybody in or around Barcelona to book him.

the return of the masked Igorrr fan
Saturday, 15 January 2011 16:12

Do you remember seeing a few months ago a video of a long haired, masked Igorrr fan raving alone on top of a hill? It seems that he is at it again, this time in the middle of a snowy forest.
We still have no idea who this person is, what the "school project" he is referencing is exactly, but we do know that the track he used is "Cruciform Dachshund", taken from Igorrr's latest album, "Nostril" (Ad Noiseam adn132), which you can get on CD here or as mp3 there.
Anyway, the video is to be seen after the break.

New video showreel to Hecq's "Sura"
Sunday, 02 January 2011 17:00

A few months after Kim Holm used Hecq's "Sura" for his short video about the Offf festival, it's the turn of another video artist to feature this track in a very nice video work. This time around, Oregon's Peiter Hergert presents a showreel (or portfolio of sort) of his works, and used the main track from Hecq's "Sura" EP (Ad Noiseam adn128) as a soundtrack:

New Year's gift from Semiomime and Ad Noiseam.
Friday, 31 December 2010 19:10

2010 is living its last hours, and Noel Wessels (aka DJ Hidden or one half of The Outside Agency) and Ad Noiseam have a parting gift for this year.

"In Passing" is a first give-away sample introducing "From Memory", the début album by Noel Wessels's new Semiomime project. This long-awaited, carefully crafted and "quite different" project will finally get its first album on 11-II-11. After many delays, reworks and announcement, the album is finished, will be available for pre-order very soon. But here comes already something to listen to.

You can listen to "In Passing" below, stream it here or download it there. Enjoy, and best wishes for 2011

Five questions to Raoul Sinier.

In our series of short interviews with Ad Noiseam artists, we sit down today with Raoul Sinier. With four releases so far on Ad Noiseam, including the "Brain Kitchen" and "Tremens Industry" full length album, more artwork and videos that you can shake a stick at, this Paris-based musician, painter and graphic artist has been at the center of the life of Ad Noiseam in the recent years. He has now started to write a new album to come out in 2011, following another forthcoming EP for the young british label Oeuvre, expected in January.
