The season of the bestests.
Wednesday, 30 December 2009 16:47
Can't you hear the clock ticking yet? Corks are getting ready to fly, confettis are being produced by the metric ton, as the year decade gets to an end. Party or non-event, we'll let you decide. What's for sure is that the season of the "best whatever of the something" lists is open. And surprise, several Ad Noiseam releases are making it to these coveted listings.
Read below to see what albums were listed where. What about you? Tell us what what your favorite releases of the year decade millenium and see what others like.
First off, NPR has chosen the cover art to DJ Hidden's "The Words Below" as one of the ten most beautiful album covers of the year, next to Baroness or Animal Collective. The list is there, and the album there. By the way, you do know that you still can pre-order the third volume of the "Words Below" vinyl series for a few days and get it on the cheap, don't you?

More music-related, The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble's "Here Be Dragons" album is being graced as one of the best albums of the year over here at Popmatters and over there at Headphone Commute (who also praise Detritus's "Things Gone Wrong" as one of the "ten best albums for missed friends, barbecues and turntables"), one of the "top 10 albums of 2009" at The Silent Ballet and, even better, as one of the 50 best albums of the decade by Lie In The Sound. Oh, and I'll take this opportunity to tell you all to go over there at Terapija to read a new interview with TKDE.

Onwards with the praise, Raoul Sinier's "Tremens Industry" is also listed as one of the best "eclectic" releases of the year at this new blog, as well as one of the 10 best albums of the year (along with Detritus's "Things Gone Wrong") at Chroniques Electroniques, Somatic Responses's "Reformation" is one of the 10 favorite 2009 releases over at Datacide. The users of the Dutch Kraakpiep forum also put both The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble's "Here Be Dragons" and Raoul Sinier's "Tremens Industry" in their top 10 chart for 2009. And if this Tokafi review of DJ Hidden's "The Words Below" doesn't sound like a "get this"-one, I don't know what does.

Finally, the free "Ad Noiseam Summer 2009" compilation has been listed as one of the best compilations of 2009 by the aforementionned Headphone Commute.
