Keep up with the New Year's joy with Ad Noiseam, as not only is the new Sickboy 12" out now, but pre-orders are now taken for the new releases by The Kilimanjaro Darkjazz Ensemble ("Mutations EP", adn105) and Math Head ("Stab City" 12"). Both are coming out in the second half of January (except for the LP version of TKDE's "Mutations", coming in early February).
And if this wasn't enough: pre-orders paid for before the release date of these items are all getting a rebate. To cut a long story short: if you order now, you not only get your items first, but you also get them for cheaper.

Second volume of True Tiger's international dubstep compilations, this time with UK's resident Sukh Knight, Hungary's Matt U and the always great (and Ad Noiseam familiar) Cardopusher from Venezuela. The four tracks presented here are of quite heavy on the drums, syncopated and definitely cold by dubstep standard. The B side, with Matt U and Cardopusher is quite the killer one, both artists delivering excellent tracks (and somehow superior to their previous encounter on Redvolume). Recommended.

Nice and original record for Destpub's fourth release. The London-based 16 Bit crew deliver on the one side a quite percussive, hi-fi sounding and pretty changing dubstep number, very rich in sounds and tonalities. On the other side, some jazzy and latin referrences are added to a slightly straighter track, giving the whole thing an edge rarely reached in dubstep. Nice one.

Great second release for Destpub, a french dubstep sublabel of Toolbox / Monkey Tool. "Incident" is heavy, anthemic and super wobbly post-Skreamesque dancefloor number, while "4AM Brawl" is a bit more subdued and contained, but built around a sweeping, quite menacing bassline. Quite dark and definitely on the massive side, an efficient and very easy on the ear dubstep record.

Nicely flowing, easy on the ear dubstep / tech for Helixir's second record, still on France's 7even. Both tracks flow very well, once being quite the straight, subdued dubby one and the other one having a resolutely heavier and clubbier beat. This all fits very well with the rest of 7even's discography, and should appeal to anybody interested in the current combination of dubstep and dub techno.

Another of Headhunter's beautifully designed colored 12" (this time in bright orange) presenting on wax three tracks from his acclaimed "Nomad" album. "Grounded" clearly focuses on the most dub-techno tracks from the album, with very echo-ed and straight tracks which would have also fit well on Skull Disco, Hot Flush, or of course, their grandparents of Chain Reaction and Basic Channel. Nice as always from this producer.

Third album for the german Polarlicht 4.1, who once again slows things down a bit and more or less resolutely leaves the noise and big beats for a pretty mid-tempo melodic album (with the exception of a couple of harder tracks). Quite typical of the whole "industrial electronica" scene, "Famos" takes plenty of elements of the most melodic tones of the IDM scene and "industrialize" them (i.e. beefs them up and darken the whole thing). Polarlicht 4.1 doesn't reinvent the wheel here, but this is obviously something that people into such acts as Beefcake, Displacer or Flint Glass will enjoy.

Third 12" on Rag & Bone for Blackmass Plastics, and another proof (if one was needed) that this label keeps on the quality level really high while diversifying its musical spectrum. A high energy, relatively up-tempo drum'n'bass 12" with enough sweeping bass to please any early-era Panacea fans and hard hitting beats, Blackmass Plastics are definitely mutating in the right direction to survive, and I could imagine these tracks being played quite often.

Excellent new two-tracker by Excision, cheating on his Rottun Records label for this 12" on Rag & Bone. Massive, mid-tempo and evil, this "Wasted" is 100% broken and mean-spirited dubstep for everybody who like their sets dark and oppressive. If names such as Broken Note, King Cannibal or Innasekt ring a bell for you, I'd strongly recommend you to check this new Excision record.

Nice 12" from DJG, a newcomer about whom I don't really know anything, and who has had a couple of records on Subway, Noppa and Narco Hz in 2008. One side is a very melodic, dubstep-y but very "electronic"-sounding tune with a relatively high tempo, while the B side is a heavier and far wobble-richer classic heavy dubstep tune that should have no difficulty in being played (and danced to) in clubs.

This record by Japan's Goth-Trad for Mala's Deep Medi label is quite the superlative two tracker: not only are the tracks uncommonly long, but they also take all the elements of dubstep and quite exaggerate them: bassier than anything else, quite broken, heavier in the beats, and still featuring (at least on one side) a melody typical for the genre: Goth-Trad is at it again, reapproriating the whole dubstep sound, and coming up with something which is a lot more than this genre's usual output.

Hard, mean and relentless drum'n'bass, Ohm Resistance's style for this record focusing on the brazilian producer Cable. On the one side, the man remixes Gutter, a track originally written by Submerged, for a really heavy number (think early Panacea). The B side, by Cable himself, is a bit more balanced, with nicely chosen and untypical drums. A definite DJ tool for anybody looking for relatively straight but gritty and scraping drum'n'bass.

As usual with him, it's pretty much anything goes, as long as it's distorted and raunchy: from industrial beats to fast breakcore, noise or experimental changes: Fanny's fans shouldn't have any problem believing he is a musician, and has a soul.

No info, no names, nothing at all to break the anonymity on this first volume of Praxis's new "Anonymous series". You'll have to trust your ears only this time around. Out of the four tracks featured on this 12", we've got a slightly Warp-ish (but more muscular) IDM goes breakcore one, a quite experimental one, and two which fit very well on Praxis, combining percussieve breakcore and a high distortion level. In conclusion, a good record (as could be expected from this label), with which it's fun to try and imagine who did what.

The hurricane has now gained its full force, the zombies are unleashed: the 2x12" vinyl version of The Teknoist's first album, "...Like A Hurricane Made Of Zombies" (adn103 ) is now in stock and available , fresh from the pressing plant. The 2x12" version is here and ready to ship , with its full cover art painted by Raoul Sinier , but watch out as well for more undead breakcore with the CD version (which has been available for a few weeks and contains three tracks taken from the splits 12" between The Teknoist and Eustachian released earlier this year on Ad Noiseam and Death$ucker). Here goes... this album starts off about as ambient as hardcore can get and builds up to cover all respectable variations of core. The use of atmospherics and melodies seems to soften the blow of the unadulterated kick drum frenzy that ensues in the bottom end. This only adds more depth and emotion to the tracks, each one which genuinely feels to take you on a journey into the twisted brain wrong of a one-off man mental. There is not a single track that can be described as filler, each track is teaming if ingeniously engineered aggression. With this album The Teknoist sets the benchmark for producers who want to remain “dancefloor” friendly, but by experimentation can encompass a roller coaster of emotions, sounds, genres and ideas into one unique experience. The only downside to this album is not enough people will hear it."

Drumcorps is the white knight of the metal / breakcore sound, and intends to prove with a free DJ mix entitled "Truth & Justice" for the Electronic Explorations webcast. Containing plenty of his remixes (some of unreleased) and a bit more mixture between detailled but hard electronics and ferocious guitars, this has everything to make the fans see the light. Coming right in time for the new batch of releases are two new t-shirts to show your cool this winter. The first are new Ad Noiseam label t-shirts, with the label logo and the "The Devil Lies Below 100Hz" slogan, and the second are new Scorn shirts, commemorating again the release of the "Stealth" album.
