A concept album of some sort, it seems to be built on a lot of field recordings and found sounds, and while being relatively varied, as a much stronger atmospheric emphasis than its predecessors. Almost gone are the electronic tones and beats, replaced by some gritty statics, distant voices and discordant, subdued melodies. This might not be the easiest Nebulo CD to get into, but its rough edge bring in depth and interest what they might take off the instant gratification.
File under industrial / electronica / field recordings

-See all items from Nebulo

-See all items on Hymen

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

Free of the shoegazing guitars and vocals of Bitcrush, we're presented here with something which, though considerably lusher and less dry than past Dryft releases, quickly progresses towards the kind of syncopated electronic and subdued drum'n'bass which we had heard in the first Dryft releases and late-era Gridlock. Even the artwork reminds of the first, electronic years of N5md, and this might very well be the long-awaited release which will appease both fans of Gridlock and those of you who longed for a return to purely electronic music from this label. Recommended.
File under electronica / downtempo

-See all items from Dryft

-See all items on n5md

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

His return to N5md is a completely different affair, as this "Enough Conflict" is a much more upbeat, sunny and melodic story. Almost all the glitches and drones have been put to side, replaced by long melodic beat-driven tracks. It's quite loungy at times, sometimes bordering on easy-listening, but manages to convey the same kind of uplifting mood that his to be found on almost all the N5md releases at the moment. A very different brand of Proem.
File under electronica / downtempo

-See all items from Proem

-See all items on n5md

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

Less ambient, but also considerably less industrial, "Tonatiuh" sounds to me as a more crafted and detailled album, with stronger instrumentations and percussions which, even though they still carry the industrial / electronica touch of both projects, are less on the foreground and leave more space for the rest of the music to breathe. A strong album all throughout.
File under industrial / electronica / dark

-See all items from Tzolk'In

-See all items on Ant Zen

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

For their jump in the competitive side of the music business, these guys come up here with a rather heavy and dark twisted kind of dubstep, filled to the brim with influences and atmospheres from dark d'n'b and breakcore. While everything stays relatively straight and slow (most of all with the down-tempo-ish "Elefont"), this material has an oppressive, rigid and dark side which makes it go beyond the boundaries of dubstep, in my opinion. Pleasant, and quite dancefloor-friendly.
File under downtempo / dubstep & grime

-See all items from Macka

-See all items on Amenorea

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

First, it's on vinyl (extra points for this). Then, instead of going all experimental as they had done in the past, the french duo combines here some very melodic, almost post-rocky accoustic melodies with their long, charming drones and little glitches. A smooth, melancholic LP with a much more human nature than what the abstract cover artwork might lead to believe, and a very welcome initiative.
File under ambient

-See all items from Ultra Milkmaids

-See all items on Ant Zen

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

DJ Madd (of Boka fame) and Matt-U both come up with one solo track, one written together, and the whole thing is crowned by a track by Matt-U together with the unmissable Headhunter. All in all, this is a quite original sounding double EP, which keeps the sounds of classic dubstep close to its heart, but use them with structures and arrangement which are often closer to very slow garage or techno. Still a lot heavier than most "post" dubstep, cleaner and somewhat more direct, this "Running Man" has a strong potential, but is definitely something different for this scene.
File under dubstep & grime / techno

-See all items from Matt U
-See all items from DJ Madd

-See all items on Blackbox

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

This is the case with this new album by Holland's Mono-Amine on Ant-Zen. It's heavy, distorted, rhythmic, industrial, club-oriented and, at that point, it's pretty obvious that it walks the exact same path as Sonar, Converter, Synapscape and so on (with an emphasis on the first). Distorted heavy beats for rhythmic industrial fans who know what they want and how they want it. "Do not bend", and does not blend.
File under industrial / rhythmic noise

-See all items from Mono-Amine

-See all items on Ant Zen

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

Slower and not as overwhelmingly hard as the rcent Reso & Vent record on this label, "Recovery" is still heavy and noisy enough to compare with any huge dubstep tune of the moment. On the B side, "Headlock" is a bit more balanced and closer to past Taz Buckfaster releases, but still displays its "brostep" label proudly. A very efficient DJ tool, delivering everything what we could expect and wish for.
File under dubstep & grime

-See all items from Taz Buckfaster

-See all items on Subway

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

No, this blog post is not going to tell you about new releases, free excerpts, new available records or new concerts. It's about something that makes us happy and bring back some energy to work on the label and all what is mentionned above. Indie labels such as Ad Noiseam need to pay their rent and food, but also like seeing that people care about what they do. Here's a perfect example (after the fold), with a fan sending us some totally unrequested signs of love. Thank you, this made our day.

Blubby and ever changing, the whole thing was at times clearly influenced by early Warp releases, but taps constantly from the industrial sound, resulting in a somewhat percussive and highly complex avalanche of beats and tones. Not the most accessible of releases, this "digital anatomist project" is still an interesting one, for the amount of details, tracks and changes show that a lot of care has been put in this CD. Somewhere at the confluent of all genre and pretty forward with all their instrumentation, TMK deliver here quite a wild ride with a lot of dirty and menacing moments, and remind me a bit of what Giardini Di Miro might have done with a trumpet player after a long night of listening to classic industrial records. Utopia Banished offer with their second album an pathos-ridden, varied and well produced mixture of all things electronic with heavy influence of 90's industrial metal (think of Nine Inch Nails, Ministry & co). Angry and full of angst, "Dirtwards" is an album which grows on its listener with every listen, and ends up being quite a catchy, wel written and well thought album. Congratulations to this band for keeping the flame of a genre a lot thought long dead.
File under industrial / (post) rock

-See all items from Utopia Banished

-See all items on Aentitainment

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

While it clearly belongs to the whole avalanche of dubstep-goes-techno-goes-micro-house trend, "Splazsh" is an uncommonly contained and modest album, which delivers its dub-techno tracks, its sub-basses or its little low-res gameboy sounds in a very low key and charming manner. It all sounds fresh and "different" from what might have come out on Hyperdub or Mu recently, and gets some bonus sympathy points from staying subtle and not overdoing the dancefloor thing. Recommended.
File under 8 bit / dubstep & grime / techno

-See all items from Actress

-See all items on Honest Jon's

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

It might be called "Pink", it might be co-released by Cock Rock Disco, but it's definitely not an absurd, glowstick affair. It's all hard, oppressive and very noisy, and might remind a bit of what Bong-Ra's "Grindkrusher" would have sounded like with a much grittier production and with beats going through a metal distortion pedal. That's all quite cleansing, all good fun when twitched to in a club, and quite the kick in the ass that the breakcore scene needs.
File under breakcore

-See all items from Ladyscraper

-See all items on Noizetek
-See all items on Cock Rock Disco

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

Mashed-up mid-tempo breakcore, full of amen breaks, samples and high energy breaks, "C4 on the dancefloor" reminds me a bit of the first Cardopusher album, having the same kind of clean and clear production mixed with very party compatible tracks. A fun, well done EP that keeps a genre alive which strongly needs it.
File under breakcore / mash-up

-See all items from Microphyst

-See all items on Meganeural Records

Ad Noiseam online store: http://www.adnoiseam.net/store

Invitro have here gathered a very nice selection of 29 artists, mostly from the IDM scene, to present their own version of the vitamin-rich album. From Kelpe to Freeform, Jega to Eero Johannes, Ebola to Wevie Stonder, you get the picture: more electronic madness, more twists, more fun, and a lot more Perrey.
This week's Friday Freebie doesn't come as a free track or a free video, but an hour long, 100% Ad Noiseam mix provided by the nice people over at PopMatters. It's not the first time that Ad Noiseam is featured on this magazine (check some reviews), but it would be a lie to say that it doesn't feel good to see a reviewer make the effort of coming up with a label mix and featuring it in a site that sports Dreamworks and Michael Jackson on his front page.

This mix, entitled "Soundscape Mix #7" is a very accurate introduction to the label, with tracks ranging from Larvae's post-rock songs to Matta's heavy dubstep or Enduser's anthems. You can listen to it below (or download it here). Check the tracklisting after the fold.

TV Berlin says: listen to more Ad Noiseam.

Time to revise your German. Even when they are not on stage, Matta can't seem to leave their mixing desks. The two have unleased a new hour long mix, which can be downloaded and listened to for free over here (or below).

People checking the playlist (also included below) will notice a few interesting things. To answer whatever questions might arise: Matta's "Release The Freq" will be on their next EP on Ad Noiseam. Their remix of Bong-Ra will be included in the CD version of his album, coming in early 2011, and the one for Black Lung will be included on his coming Ad Noiseam EP, to be released this fall.

Here's Matta's "Skulls & Crossfaders" mix. Enjoy, and check the playlist and more links after the fold.
