While "Splazsh" was already a very nice album, it is in my opinion with this third album that Actress really stands out from the rest of the post-dubstep, post-everything flock of current UK producers. A very modest, low-key, aerial album, it doesn't only free itself from the boundary of the genres touched in Actress's previous releases, but twists so many sounds and tones usually not mixed together (from dynamic glitch to long, almost pop melodies, or from very twisted IDM to house) that "R.I.P." really feels like a charming journey and an effort in active listening. Very rich, interesting and rewarding, here's something which explains and justifies Actress's current widespread recognition.
