Nice and remarkable debut full length album for Actress (of Werk Discs fame). While it clearly belongs to the whole avalanche of dubstep-goes-techno-goes-micro-house trend, "Splazsh" is an uncommonly contained and modest album, which delivers its dub-techno tracks, its sub-basses or its little low-res gameboy sounds in a very low key and charming manner. It all sounds fresh and "different" from what might have come out on Hyperdub or Mu recently, and gets some bonus sympathy points from staying subtle and not overdoing the dancefloor thing. Recommended.
