Maybe more balanced than the two "Xerrox" albums, Alva Noto's 2011 delivery sounds like this a return to the basics of his art for this now unmissable German musician. Past the experiments of his collaborations with Ryuchi Sakamoto or Blixa Bargeld, Alva Noto presents here a surprisingly compact and somewhat accessible album of his beefy glitches and technofloor-friendly clicks. Distorted but crystal-clear, highly dynamic and high-brow, this is pure Raster Noton, of course, but while the form is well known, one can truely appreciate the somewhat friendlier matter of this album.
