The Cthulhu-inspired artwork to Contagious Orgasm's new album is very fitting, as this veteran of the Japanese noise scene comes up here with something which is both weird and slightly retro. Long gone are the days of walls of noises and scraping experimentations, but while "Escape" is mainly built around calm pieces and droney atmospheres, there remaining tracks carry quite a poppy but unsettling old school appeal. All quite melodic, less field-recordings oriented than before, this is quite the seductive album, and probably one of my favorite Contagious Orgasm of the recent years.
