Cold and gloomy second album for Norway's Elegi, still on Miasmah. Full of long drones and low-key dark melodies, "Varde" take its strength from its well chosen accoustic instrumentation (mostly piano and violin). Clearly something which could have been released on CMI or Malignant at some point, save for the noise level, which is clearly kept down on this album. Beautiful, deep and very well done.
