Interesting, surprising and very artsy release that this self-released album by Greece's Emdy. At the meeting point between high brow electro-accoustic, musique concrète, jazz and click'n'cut, "Synchresis" is an album which often deceives and takes unexpected turns. Starting off quite jazzy, it then steers toward more drone-based (and somewhat darker) tracks, to fall back on very dynamic clicks and micro-beats. There seems to be quite a scene for this kind of sound in Greece (as demonstrated by the great Spyweirdos),. and while "Synchresis" is something which will need repeat listenings, it's also obviously the fruit of a very meticulous work.
