Empusae's first release for Ant Zen is a collaboration with the allegedly long-running but new to me Japanese act Shinkiro, and something which while stylistically close to this project's past, strips its sound from most of its rhythmical elements. Things are not completely beatless throughout these "Ornaments", but very calm and atmospheric, with a strong aerial feeling, and while the trance elements that Empusae has carried since his days with This Morn Omina are still to be found on some tracks, the whole thing is really more of a home-listening affair, made of sounds which might still not particularly surprising but have proved their efficiency for this kind of dark and calm material.
