Very good first three track 12" for Illum Sphere on Martyn's 3024 label. This young British producer seems to be on his way to a lot of good things and demonstrates here how elegant his combination of post-dubstep, slightly chiptunesque tones and techno beats can get. Not as 2-step as Martyn's own material and not as dub-techno oriented as most of the similar productions to be heard lately, Illum Sphere might be compared to the likes of Raffertie or Eprom for the crunchiness of his tracks, with slightly straighter, less broken and more uptempo material. It all goes down very well and sounds particularely coherent. Recommended.
