Leafcutter John's music has changed quite a lot in the decade separating his already very experimental first albums on Planet Mu and this "Tunis". Less electronic, his music (which is here apparently made entirely of field recordings from the Tunisian capital) has also lost in cleanliness what it has gained in accessibility and emotions. Very atmospheric, slightly noisy but quite straight in its process, "Tunis" is a very pleasant, multi-layered sonic postcard and a very charming CD all throughout.
