On first listen, this EP by Monstar is a relatively basic, though efficient piece of filthy dubstep. But the more you listen to it, the more you hear that this new project by the musician behind the ravey drum'n'bass Original Sin is making plenty of use of much noisier, distorted and uncommon sounds than most people active in this subgenre of dubstep. Yes, it's all flying rather low, the bass is omnipresent and answers to poppier elements, but though the intent might not be very original, the ingredients user here denote a certain experience and taste for experiments, which makes this record stands out from the current wave of similar releases.
