One of Hydra Head's best known bands, Pelican had put themselves up to quite a challenge while writing a follow-up to their very remarked and very remarkable second album, but have managed not to repeat this CD's very long, dreamy but heavy post-rock (metal) tracks, and instead deliver with "City of Echo" a rather more accessible and riff-based, slightly less contemplative album which still bears the heaviness of Isis but integrates even more post-rock elements than before. All instrumental, as always, and extremely well done. Comes in a luxury embossed digipack, and very heartedly recommended.
