A collaboration between Jêrôme Chassagnard of Ab Ovo and Guillaume Eluerd of Nimp, The Prayer Tree is more than the sum of its part. A very songwriting-oriented album at the calm confluent of electro-pop and new-wave, this melancholic (but at times uplifting) album sounds modern and upgraded enough not to be retro, but stays electronic enough not to become another "let's sing to soft beats" indietronica kind of thing. It's a bit harmless in the end, but is well done and has a wider appeal than both Ab Ovo and Nimp.
