Following "Not a word", released on Ad Noiseam in 2003, Uniform (aka 2nd Gen) comes back with a follow-up in the form of this slightly more ambient album on which several high profile vocalists (Dälek, Alan Vega of Suicide, Lydia Lunch...) lend their voices to very gritty, droney and clicky tracks. The whole thing is amazingly deep and dark, but in a fresh and original way. Definitely not a ride for the light-hearted, "Protocol" is experimental in the truest sense, and definitely a success; a great CD.
